MPower Brasil and GWNET sign partnership to promote gender equality in the energy transition
24/07/2025 - MPower Brasil and the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation between women’s networks in the energy sector and promoting gender equality as a fundamental pillar of a just and sustainable energy transition.
Signed earlier in July, the agreement establishes a framework for collaboration on initiatives, projects, and programs that promote women's empowerment and human rights in the energy sector. It highlights the need for full and equal participation of women in decision-making and in the development of public policies related to sustainable energy.
The key areas of cooperation include:
Promoting the role of women in advancing the energy transition;
Generating data and advocacy actions to influence policy-making;
Supporting mentoring, coaching, and networking initiatives;
Strengthening technical and leadership skills for women in the energy sector;
Conducting stakeholder assessments for gender mainstreaming.
Planned activities include promoting the “Women in Energy Expert Platform” to MPower members, recommending female speakers for joint events, contributing to webinars and publications, and supporting each other’s mentorship programs.
For Eduarda Zoghbi, Founding Member of MPower Brasil, “this partnership represents a significant step toward increasing the visibility and influence of Brazilian women in the energy sector while connecting them to an international support network.” Christine Lins, Founding Member of GWNET, is also celebrating the cooperation. “We believe that strengthening female leadership is essential to accelerating the global energy transition and building a more equitable future,” said.
This MoU reflects both organisations’ commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy for All).
